NEW INDIAN AND CREOLE RESTAURANT OPENS
A new restaurant and retail store, 2mayto 2mato (pronounced two-may-toe two-ma-toe), is having their Grand Opening the entire month of March. The retail store/restaurant opened, March 6, 2007. 2mayto 2mato is located at Scotch Pines Village at the southwest corner of Lemay and Drake at 2601 South Lemay in Fort Collins, Colorado. The store is owned by Angela Ramdass and her sister Ria Samaroo, both of Trinidad.
2mayto 2mato serves authentic Indian and Creole cuisine from the tiny islands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. The menu changes daily and customers can get the menu on line at www.2mayto2mato.com or sign up for the Daily Menu Email which includes coupons, specials and the next two days menu. The cuisine consists of fresh meats, vegetables and spices but the meals are served “mild” in temperature but can be made hotter on request. 2mayto 2mato offers a meat and a vegetarian dish daily. For a sample of the types of authentic dishes available you can check the website under “menu item descriptions”. 2mayto 2mato currently offers take out only but will offer free delivery in the near future.
2mayto 2mato became famous over this past summer when it offered, for the first time, Angela’s Original Fire Roasted Tomato Choka and Angela’s Original Fire Roasted Biagan Choka at local farmers’ markets in Colorado and Wyoming. 2mayto 2mato repeatedly sold out of these products which are offered in four heat levels of Island Mild, Sabita Spicy, T&T Dynamite and Death by Choka. Fire Roasted Choka is a product similar to salsa only thicker and has more of a roasted flavor. Choka is considered an “appetizer” in Trinidad and Tobago. The other noticeable difference is the freshness of the product which does not have preservatives. Along with a great condiment for tortillas or chips, it serves as a marinade for chicken or fish and is great in scrambled eggs.
2mayto 2mato offers full service catering in which they offer a selection of specific items or the menu can be created by and for the particular event. Additionally, in the front of the store, products are available from local companies that produce such items as flavored spicy mustard, honey, kettle corn, CSU Aspen Club Marmalade and BBQ Sauce. These are items that also can be found at the local farmers’ markets.
